History

How to play

A party of up to five heroes can choose to take on the dangers of the Sunken Temple, called a ‘Run’. The Temple is split up into sequential floors. Once one floor has been cleared, the heroes can proceed to the next, and so on.

Each floor will have increasingly challenging encounters but will also reward greater and greater upgrades.

Players start with 10 cards from their Class ability card pool, selected at random. As they progress through the floors, they get random upgrades to their Class and its abilities, meaning no two Runs in Respawn are the same.

At any point, the heroes can choose to Respawn and return to Brill. If they do, they may choose ONE item found in their Run to retain. The rest are lost. These items are permanent and help make future ‘Runs’ easier.

If the heroes die, they are resurrected in Brill, but lose all their loot.

Your objective is to get to the bottom of the Sunken Temple and save the city of Brill. Who knows what treasures lie along the way…

Set Up

Combat

Respawn combat is turn-based.

Rounds

As the heroes face enemies during an encounter, the eldest player goes first, then an enemy, then the next player clockwise, then the next enemy, and so on.

When all players have had a turn, the enemies get a final turn, and the Round is over.

Turn

When it’s a player’s turn, they draw three cards from their Class ability deck. The player may choose ONE of these cards as their action for their turn. Discard the rest.

Enemy Targeting

Enemies target players randomly, based on the deck of cards with player numbers on them. Shuffle the deck, pick the top card when an enemy attacks to determine the target, and proceed until there are 3 cards left. Then reshuffle.

Health and Death

Enemies and players have health points. If a player goes to zero health, they die. The encounter can proceed, and if the remaining players succeed, they may choose to Respawn or continue their Run without their dead party member.
